Hiraani Hutana joined us as a Kai Awheawhe at the Toi Tangata Hui ā-Tau 2026. Her kōrero advocates for organic and risky tākaro, challenging the tendencies to over structure children's play and lives, encouraging us instead to trust in wisdom, capability and tamariki wanting to learn through exploration, curiosity and movement.

Hiraani is a māmā of six and brings over twenty years of experience in the early childhood sector with her passion for Māori ways of knowing and being.
