Ka haumanutia tātou e te Rēhia!
Let us be swept away by the spirit of joy in play!

We had the privilege of being invited to facilitate He Pī Ka Rere workshops at Te Reo o Te Rēhia | Māori Games and Pastimes kaupapa at Umupuia Marae on 2nd May.

Hosted by Kura Rēhia and Umupuia Marae, the wānanga was a celebration of Māori pursuits of pleasure - both old and new - and featured workshops led by tohunga tākaro tawhito (experts in traditional Māori play), creators of new taonga tākaro (Māori games and resources), and taonga puoro practitioners.

Tama-nui-te-rā graced us with his presence and the whole day was a beautiful expression of the whakataukī "ka haumanutia tātou e te Rēhia" and the pursuit of joy. It affirmed what our tūpuna already knew - that wellness really can be fostered through having fun.
